With winter coming on, and the pesky colds and runny noses our voices get trashed. I thought I would share a recipe that gets me singing again.
I use to drink Ice flavored Gatorade, but that is not awesome for you

Mix in this order in a pint glass

1 shot of Braggs ACV (apple Cider Vinegar)
1 Tablespoons of honey
Stir until honey dissolves
1 Tablespoon of lemon juice

At this point you can loudly gargle a few sips of the mixture and try to swallow it (not a big deal if you don’t. THIS WILL BURN A LOT!!)

With the remaining mixture (or the whole batch if you are too scared to gargle) dilute with apple juice, lemonade, water… I like grape juice. Just don’t dilute with Gatorade.

Only do this twice in a day at the most. This will sour your stomach if you have too much.

Thanks,

I've been using "Singer's Saving Grace" throat spray purchased from Organic Food Co-ops.
In Seattle they're called PCC, the food co-ops, that is :)

keep uke'in' and singin',

Folksinger's Emergency Throat Patch:

1 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
1 oz. Irish Whiskey

If your throat still hurts, repeat. Soon you won't feel a thing ;-)

I use slippery elm tabs, they really help me belt out the bluegrass over the mando and banjo players

Water's the best lubricant for the throat, though I find beer a close second - best English ale, of course ;)

Liquorice and menthol tablets also help.
