I really love the period sound when gut strings are used on an Ohana SK-28. It gives a real Renaissance feel to the music of Sanz (and others).
I am looking to buy one of these vintage series ukuleles and adding gut strings but I have a question. I notice that all the videos use the SK-28 exclusively. Is the tone of CK-28 so different that it loses the unique sound of the older music?
I prefer the action of the concert size instrument but really want the unique sound of the soprano .

Thanks. Frank

Sooooo, the choice you have is one sounds the way you want, and the other is the size you want? I'm a concert fan, so I guess I'd get some "bright" strings for it if I wanted it to sound more like a soprano.

it is not a bad ukulele but not as "magic" as the sk-28, I sold it.

This is actually a pretty good and helpful review. Simple words but I think we can all relate to that feeling re: buying ukes.
