Very little of what I do is conventional and it’s safe to say most my ukuleles don’t even look like ukuleles (good thing they sound like ukuleles). So here’s 45 seconds of unconventional building.

Nice. I like that layered look where the sides join together...very cool detail and it simplifies the neck/body join

i'm looking at the video, at 0:23 in... how is the top fit so perfectly into the sides with (what looks to me) no binding?

It is binding, cut from the same stock as the sides. Here it is just after it was installed.
