finish for body molds?

Just got finished making some tenor uke molds out of MDF, I took my time to make sure that they are symmetrical, and nicely curved.
I know I need some kind of finish on there, is there any particular finish I should consider? Poly, shellac, varnish?

Any of those choices will work. Personally I use lacquer but I'm set up to spray, so that's the easiest for me.

i buy a tin of polyurethane satin to seal my jigs, mdf or ply. MDF soaks up alot of this stuff. I rub it on with a scrap of old t shirt etc. (wearing gloves)

Thanks! I'll go with poly. I have some extra sitting around that should be fine. Thanks for the heads up about MDF - that stuff is pretty thirsty!

Why do you want to finish it? My molds are just bare plywood

Id totally recommend sealing radius dishes so the radius don't change due to humidity (ive seen humidity badly warp a $100 dish)

i poly seal my molds so glue sticks less to them

I want to make sure that glue doesn't stick, and I suspect that some poly will harden the mdf, which could really use it in that direction.
