I found this uke hanging in the high school art teacher's room.
She told me that it was her father's uke.

Should I suggest she try to preserve it or is it too far gone to try and save?
What year do you think it is?
I know there are lots of knowledgeable Martin fans on the forum.
Unfortunately, I am ignorant when it comes to Martin ukes.
Thanks for any input,
Johnson

ok I see it, just needs a nut. like kypfer said, just stick a nut on and see how it goes. they are available ready made, and may need tweeking, but that's all it probably needs.

It'll need a nut, but in the first instance that could just be a piece of wood of appropriate height, then fit some strings and see how it goes. If it's any good, re-consider your options, if the neck's warped or some other nasties show up, hang it back on the wall ;)

Just for clarification.
This is not my uke.

It is "wall art" now.
I am an English teacher and this is the art teacher's dad's uke which I found hanging on a wall in the art room.

I see that it only needs a nut. But I am not sure she wants to play it.

Can anyone date the uke by appearance and markings?

I know nothing about Martin Ukes.

I'd say it is worth at least $200.00

uh, yeah, I'll give her $200.00 for it! It's pre 1934, because in '34 they started putting the decal on the front of the headstock. Get a nut and string it up with some Martin strings!

OK, thanks guys.
I think if she knew she had a 200 uke hanging on the wall she might let me put a nut and strings on there.

Now I am curious to hear how this little guy plays.
Thanks again for the info.

Johnson

FYI, I will look at the uke on Monday and check the neck relief and try to take a few pics of the neck as well.
