Found chords -- what's good n00b strumming pattern?

The best suggestion I have is simply to listen carefully to the very opening part of the Stones tune, with just the acoustic guitar. It's played with a pick, but could be finger strummed. Generally...(D=strum down, U=upstrum)

D D UD D, DUDUD D UD D D (repeat)
 
It's also swung instead of played straight. A half-time shuffle, technically. That's key.

In other words, your "ups" don't come exactly between the "downs". They come a bit later than that.

Pretty hard to describe in words. Here's a yootoob I dug up that may or may not help explain the difference.
