Has anyone tried these strings? I find little to no feedback on how they compare to rubber Ubass strings. I am converting a lightweight First Act 1/2 size guitar to a quasi Ubass and these strings would eliminate any "drastic modifications" to the bridge and tuning machines.

They are rebranded thunderguts from all accounts, I know @kohanmike has tried them. I did that same first act mod and used thunderguts on it. I did have to file bigger slots in the bass tuners I used. But, it does sound really good. I used a $10 eBay endpin preamp and piezo cable pickup in it and that made a huge difference over the original passive pickup I tried.

Here's a video of it - it's still passive in the first video, then the second is active: (pardon the intonation issue on the E string in the second video, there was a problem with the zero fret on that guitar that I've since remedied)

Yep, I have a set and they are the Aquila Thundergut strings, no difference. The material on all those kind of strings is polypropylene, not rubber. I prefer the Road Toad Pahoehoe, much smoother and I think have better intonation. Here's a photo of both sets, on the left are D'Addario, right re Thinderguts.

Hmmm, I was hoping they'd be thinner than the thunderguts. Of all the Ubass strings, any substantially thinner than the others?
