First time changing strings

Just changed my strings for the first time ,took me about 45mins
Keep playing but uke keeps going out of tune is this normal ?

absolutely normal. depending on the strings it could be several days or longer before the strings settle in.
 
Aquila reds stretch so much for me in the first two weeks I usually need to rewind the C string to reduce the number of windings building up on the tuning shaft.
 
Definitely normal, yes. Different materials and brands settle at different speeds. Of the ones I've tried (not many, just different Worth, Martin and Aquila), the Martin M600 settled the fastest (couple days).
 
Yep, and that's why you should always give string a good chance before deciding weather they work for you or not. I have had strings turn out to be favorites after I let them settle in real good. Almost wrote them off before that.
 
Well after playing (well messing about) for around 1 hour last night and this morning and retuning time and time again seem to be settling in .

There is a great video on YouTube by HMS with Joel changing three bridges and two head stocks ... I have watched in tandem of doing mine.
