SALE IS BACK ON - AS BEFORE, PRICE WILL BE REDUCED $10 PER DAY UNTIL SOLD - THE LAST PRICE WAS $730 SO THAT IS WHERE IT WILL START OUT THIS GO-AROUND - CURRENT PRICE IS $600 - HOW LOW WILL IT GO?

I am selling my Kiwaya KTS-7 solid mahogany soprano in my ongoing effort to downsize the herd. I purchased the instrument new from HMS and have had it for about 6 months now.

There is one issue that needs to be mentioned. When changing out the strings the last time, I wasn't paying very good attention to the task at hand. The C, E, and A strings did not come out of their slots easily so I, in my haste, gave them a jerk and a bit of the bridge wood came off at the 3 slots on the back side of the bridge. Fortunately, the damage is only cosmetic. The slots are not damaged and there is no issue with the strings being anchored securely. This is clearly shown in the photo below.

Other than the above, the instrument is in excellent condition.

The instrument was set up by HMS and plays very easy. It is currently strung with Martin clear fluorocarbon strings with a wound low G.

A sound sample video is included below.

I upgraded the original tuners to Gotoh UPTs. The original tuners are in the case.

Includes a nice hard shell case as shown in the photos and an Oasis humidifier.

I am asking $600. which will include shipping within CONUS.

I prefer and accept PayPal.

Thanks for looking...!!!

Here is another photo of the bridge showing more of the top of the bridge. The pieces that came off were actually splinters from the back of the bridge. The strings all anchor just fine.

WDS. It looks like the Kiwaya has the same Low G - seaguard set up as the soprano you sold me in Dec. I am loving it. Unbelievable, beautiful sound. I am still very much a traditional re-entrant player, bu it is nice to have another option and sound. It also works well with playing close (voicing) chords that I enjoy. Great deal on the Kiwaya! I'll be watching!

Could that just be varnish that has come off the bridge? It doesn't seem like the wood itself would break off like that.

It's more than varnish. The pieces that came off are very thin slithers, I'd guess about 1/32" or so thick.

Do you have the thin pieces, WDS? Does this also have the original Gotoh Deluxe frictions tuners included? Thank you.

I do love my KTS-7 and if I did not already have one, I would be looking seriously at this one as the price drops. They are forgiving and expressive. More tame than Koa, but a very versatile player, and good looking too.

If these chips are shallow, the bridge on this one could probably be repaired by carefully masking of the top and reshaping the bridge by hand to bring the chipped out area flush and then touch it up with some French Polish. If you are handy, it should be fairly easy. It is always a little scary to alter an instrument, but we already play a ukulele, so our courage has been proven. I have the same geared tuners on my Martin 3 Cherry. They are smooth and a nice upgrade. It's too bad that the chips were not saved.

How deep are the chips?

The pieces that came off were thin slithers of wood. The bridge function is not affected so a repair is not necessary. A person could mask off the top behind the bridge and stain the areas of the bridge where the pieces came off. If this was done, no one would ever notice unless they looked at it very, very closely from an angle behind the bridge. I would do this if I planned on keeping the instrument.

The picture of the back has what appears to be a scratch on the lower bout. Is that a scratch or just something from the photo? Are there any pick marks on the top? The reason that I ask is that I travel to the Czech Republic on business for about 1 month per year and I am considering getting a second KTS-7 to keep over there.

Thanks

I think the "scratch" on the back is a dog hair. My house is literally covered with dog hair from my 3 terriers. I looked the entire instrument over and there is not a mark on it, nearly mint condition (excepting the wood slithers noted on the bridge).

Oh, my Lord. The top-of-the-food chain, Martin 3 styled KIWAYA, with full inlays and adornments, for a hundred and ten bucks less than the price of a new base-model, no upgrades KoAloha KSM-00 soprano.

I am surprised that nobody has snatched this one up yet. I already have one and I am still considering adding this one to the herd. I played my KTS-7 this evening and I would hate to be without it. Very forgiving and expressive. I think these are under-priced at the retail price. They are at least as nice as the Martin 3. If the chips in the bridge bother you, any good guitar shop could blend them in with little trouble. By the way, nice playing on the demo.

This is killing me. I'd buy this, but I have one.

This KTS-7 is a very high-quality soprano uke, much finer than the Kiwaya KTS-4 (which I also owned for a while). If you yearn for a high-end modern Martin, you will be very happy with this.
