I have an old (made in Japan in the 50's?) Duke Kahanamoku pineapple ukulele that is in need of some TLC. The top is separating from the side (at the bottom) and the bridge has popped off as well. I know it's not worth much, but it sounds so nice and mellow, and the size (body depth) is perfect. I've tried a few other pineapples, but I keep wanting this one back in the rotation. I'd love to get it back to playing condition but I'm not sure where to go. I'm in Dallas, but I don't mind shipping it off. Any ideas? Thanks!

I recommend Jake Wildwood.

I had some work done by a local luthier on 1920's uke in bad shape. The work was done well. Later I was passing through Vermont on vacation and stopped in to see if Jake had any other vintage ukuleles. He did not, but he did give my uke a look-see. He liked the previous work my local guy did but said that there were other issues and setup improvements that could be made. I left the uke there (had another one to finish my vacation with) (don't you take all your ukes with you on vacation?!?) and a week or so after I got back home, Jake shipped back my vintage piece.
Jake's work was great, his rates were lower than my local guy.
He KNOWS so much. Read though his blog.

Here is Jake's blog entry on my instrument. http://antebelluminstruments.blogspot.com/2015/11/1920s-oscar-schmidt-taropatch-ukulele.html

Jump over to his museum and see the beautiful pieces he has worked on!

Thanks for the information! I'll let you know how it goes.
