Aloha kakou,

I'm taking a week off from work to visit my nephews this weekend in So Cal in which I am planning to gift my nephew an `Ohana Sopranino. He's left handed, so the debate in my household is whether I should flip the strings and nurture his left handed-ness. He's nearly four but pretty sharp on driving an RC car (flipped so he steers opposite) and fishes left landed as well. So any mana`o (thoughts) would be appreciated.

advantages and disadvantages

My husband is a lefty for most things, and has learned to play the guitar as a righty. Advantage is that you will have more opportunities to play other people's instruments in a casual situation. Disadvantage– more people will want to play your instrument in a casual situation.

My sister-in-law is left handed too, and plays both the guitar and banjo right handed. I think learning young is helpful in this area.

Reading chord diagrams is easier for right handed players.

Good luck!
