I scrolled through abit and did a search but didn't see anything. Any tips on free drafting/CAD software?

AutoDesk Fusion 360 is by a very long shot the best there is out there for capabilities, features, and both Mac and Windows. The big plus for me was working on OSX.

Fully parametric 3D modelling with built in CAM if you are taking your designs on to a CNC.

If you are a hobbiest or start up earning under $100k / year you get a free license renewable each year. If you don't fall into that category, then their licensing is still very affordable and a fraction of the cost of the other big players out there. Comparable costs are easily over $10k for similar packages.

Progecad 2009 is free under their terms, (Private non-commercial use).

Draftsight Free version

Both of the above are similar to AutoCad

I have taught classes on this subject. I usually recommend a few of the programs at http://www.123dapp.com/ if you are starting out. They make a few free programs and are relatively easy compared to some other programs. I don't know if you have much computer design experience, but if you don't have much the free programs on that link are a good start. They are still more than powerful enough for most people's needs.

Each program there works a bit differently, and can be useful in different situations.
