I ran across this yesterday and snapped a photo. I'm not sure that it's a great idea to use beautiful koa to make snowboards but it did have a very pleasing tap tone.

Sacrilege! Could have got 3 or 4 ukes out of that.:rulez:

I definitely read the title as koa "soundboard" haha

Correct. So, in reality, there's not much wood there but someone sliced that stuff off a really nice board!

I guess that some snowboarders have good aesthetic sensibility. Who knew? ;)

Koa furniture and knick-knacks are revolting only if made with figured and quarter sawn wood that should be reserved for a higher and better use. :stop:

I hear that family heirlooms like this little bowl are OK:

Oh the brag. lol Would that be the back of the walnut concert #14? The bowl is pure awesome thank you for sharing. Wood is wood to me great to look at but mostly anything made not burnt is fine by me.

That's #26, a bastogne walnut and Adirondak spruce tenor. It's been a keeper for me but a local friend who doesn't want to wait for a new one is thinking of buying it so it happened to be on the bench getting some spit and polish.
