Lee Andrews of Lee Andrews and the Hearts passed away on Wednesday. Lee Andrews and the Hearts made some of the most beautiful do woo harmonies ever recorded. His, Teardrops, Lone Lonely Nights and Try The Impossible were some of the most romantic ballads ever written. A lot of us grey beards slow danced to these lush arrangements. He was also the father of Questlove, the drummer for The Roots. I guess there is something to this genetics thing. RIP Lee Andrews

Wow! I had just replied to your other post when I scrolled down and saw this.

First of all, I had no idea he passed away.

Second, I forgot all about "Try The Impossible," probably his best song of all.

Third, the very last time my band backed Lee, he brought his son along to play drums. I don't think he was any more than 14-15 at the time, and he was not a child prodigy, to say the least. I actually have a recording through the Westbury Music Fair soundboard of that show. Now that I know the little kid I hung around with through that whole set of shows turned out to be QuestLove, I'd like to get him a copy.
