A' C A C'

same string placement by the way...

any particular song your using this tuning on?

so are you going up from each one such as

G C E A
A C A C

the first tune up is just fine but going from E-A is a stretch i dont want to take... please explain further.

You're not tuning the E string up, you're tuning it down

It's not exactly an open tuning. Open tunings generally are a chord when strummed (so standard tuning is actually an "open" tuning, Open C6). You need at least three notes for a chord. So if you left the E alone (or maybe tuned the G up to A... probably other ways too) it'd be an open C chord.

Your tuning reminds me a little bit of the banjo "sawmill" tuning. Probably can do some interesting clawhammer stuff on it.
