The V looks like a debadged Mahalo but the color is off and has a different bridge. the first one reminds me of some they used to have on ebay it was some Fauxtalian name like Silmatini or something to the like. though i do love ukes that are shaped "different" i also want them to sound good.

and it was a Santini...

but i believe both of the above ukes are Vinyards, correct?

You are thinking of the Santini sold by USA Music Supply on eBay, they look cool but I hear the action is so high they are almost unplayable out of the box.

Ah! Beautiful, strange and exotic. Wasn't something like this played by Spock on the original Star Trek series?

Okay, I got bored and found it...

The maker is Swagerty, and here's a video of one being played:

and I want one terribly bad.

It looks like you could clear off the stage with a neck like that. I wouldn't want to stand next to that on a stage... probably get swept into the wings, or vaulted into the front row!

 Lori

The original knockoffs in this thread should be called the Flake and the Flee.

The single-neck version is called a Treholipee (which sounds like what you get when three alcoholics drink a lot) and was manufactured in the '60s by Swagerty. There's one on eBay right now if you want it that bad...$350 (they generally go for $200-$400).

ohhh these babies. these originated decades ago as a way for surfers to have a uke on the beach. when they would go out to surf they would stick the "headstock" into the sand and keep it off the ground. true story.(if my source is correct)

Bassukuguy

The real "poor man's fluke" (or actually, it's closer to a flea) is here (http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/uke/uke.html).

And it's microwave safe.

That tupperware monstrosity actually doesn't sound bad at all!

nikolo727

would storing mac n' cheese in it change the sound much?

I've had that tupperware uke link around for quite a while. He also has a great PVC clarinet project.

As a washboard player, I am required to like junk music. Luckily, that's not a hardship for me. I love how humans make music out of most anything.
