Yesterday I received a package from Ken Timms, containing one Style 0 Soprano Uke.

Ken sold it to me as a second (http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?119766-Defect-or-a-feature), but that's not true at all. It's a marvellous uke.

It's stunning, and it feels incredible. Superlight, smooth and with a finish without fault. Tell Mrs Timms she did a good job Ken :)!
It has a thin neck, which now actually is what I have on 2 out of 3 ukes, and friction tuners which work great. I will need to get used to them, but that's on me.

Soundwise, it is great. Very different from my koa concert, which was what I was after. Mahogany is a very nice tonewood indeed, and with Ken's build - it really sings. Sustain is really, really good!

I will let a few pictures do the rest of the talking...

Everyone takes such fantastic photos! :) Congratulations, it's great looking

So Wonderful. It is incomparable. Congratulations. Never sell it. Great buy.
I am waiting mine.

Thanks everyone, it really is a gem this uke.

Whistle, Ken does have a website (http://ukulele-innovation.tripod.com) but he doesnt sell his ukes there, nor showcase them. Best bet is to search for his id (squarepeg_3000) on ebay, and look at past auctions if you want to see his work, or current ones to keep a look out for his next batch :).

Congratulations. They are great ukes.

Very nice uke. What is supposed to make it a second? He must have high standards. Congrats.

There's a branch knot in the neck, which can be seen here:

It's totally smooth and stable and in my opinion only adds character. Ken posted about it in the luthier's lounge here (see this thread: http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?119766-Defect-or-a-feature) and the consensus was that it isnt a defect at all, so yes, Ken's standards are very high indeed as he still sold it as a second. I am not complaining, I got a very nice deal on it, and I dont think there's one bit of the uke that's second at all. To me, it's first class and a wood feature like this is just a nice bonus.

Looks a beauty

Congrats. Great looking uke. I had read this thread before I realized you had posted in my thread about the vintage Martin vs. Kiwaya. Play that thing daily!

Well done, they are a fantastic instrument. I was just telling a friend who is a soprano fan to keep his eyes open for one.

Enjoy the living daylights out of it :music:
