I seem to see a lot of reso ukes in a concert size, almost to the exclusion of other sizes (i know that beltona is making other sizes now but traditionally i mean). I was wondering, does the scale length or body size affect a reso a lot less than a regular uke because of the noise coming out of a cone?

Resos are comparatively expensive and so sales are low - thus the mass market manufacturers make only one size. And because National makes only concerts, I suspect all the Chinese manufacturers follow suit.

Soprano works as well or better than concert - here's my soprano, which I finished making a few weeks ago.

The 6 inch/5 7/8 inch cone size is a bit small for tenors, though it would work, while the 10.5 inch is too big (though would be OK for a baritone).

But, in essence, for other than concerts you need a boutique maker or individual luthier, or build your own, because the mass market isn't there.

I wish there were reso-sops.

Mya moe makes a reso tenor.
