I'm looking for an affordable style 3 uke (parend etc). I only know about the Kiwaya kts-7 (and Martin of course). Who else offers one that isn't a custom?

They say these are custom, but they don't appear to be...anyway:

I looked up this: http://ukulelehunt.com/2008/02/22/quick-guide-to-martin-ukulele-styles/

I have to ask why Style 3 specifically? There are any number of affordable mahogany soprano ukes out there.

Depends on what "affordable" means to you. I have 3 Style 3M Martins I'd part with.

Also Laughlin ukulele, sold through Elderly. These are luthier-built but offered ready to buy on the site. I believe there are two there now.

In addition to Kiwaya, LoPrinzi would be another to check out. Both are fantastic values.

Laughlin, while spec-made, custom in all other respects. Hard to find a better reproduction.

I have owned all three and they were each fantastic instruments.

Yes he does! I couldn't be happier with the concert 3M he built me!

Just putting a good word in for the Kiwaya kts-7. It's my only uke, for a reason. Beautiful, light, flawless build, and sounds great (mine is strung low G, and has a woody violin-like plunk). Worth every penny, IMO.
