So I saw a while back, I think it was on the Howling Hobbit’s blog, that you can make a uke pick from an old milk jug and felt. I found one of bf’s super thin guitar picks and glued felt on both sides (I’m assuming the felt is to not damage the nylon strings) and gave it a try.

I noticed a few things right away.

  • it’s loud. Like my uke went from quiet conversation to public speaking
  • my down strum I’m clearly hitting all the strings, but my up strum I’m really only hitting A-E very well. If I make an effort to hit all 4, it seems very drawn out .

Am i doing this horribly wrong? Am I over thinking it? Do I need to fully hit all four strings in my up strum?
