What type of wood is this?

Could some UU members give your opinions on what type of wood this tenor back looks like it is made of?

This is a photo of my newly acquired Pono PTC Tenor that is being shipped. The seller was not sure of the wood type in the back and sides.

Google says the PTC was cedar top and mahogany back and that sure looks like mahogany to me.

Yup. Looks like mahogany. Why does it matter?

Sapele which is considered to be a member of the mahogany family.

Thanks guys for your opinions on the wood type of this ukulele. I thought that it is mahogany too, but just was not sure as other tone woods can have similar ribbon markings.

I am really looking forward to playing this uke when it arrives. I am a guitarist and have a bachelors degree in music. This Pono tenor will be my first "good" ukulele which I plan to use in my high school guitar class.
