I'm playing around with a crappy kids guitar, getting my feet wet with some simple repairs. I'm clear on switching out tuners. The bridge also needs some work. It's pulling up at one corner. How do I get it off completely and how do I then glue it back down properly?

Ok. Google answered my question: http://www.guitarrepairbench.com/acoustic-guitar-repairs/bridge-repair.html
But...new question: is that fancy c clamp essential? Any way to use something I might have around the house already? I've already spent $25 on a $1 guitar :)

If I looked at it that way I could have bought some nice guitars for the cost of the wood and tools I have.

You might be able to send a few small bolts through a sandwich of caul->above bridge->guitar top->and caul under the top. Something like this...

riveting play-by-play:
Got it unscrewed. And, huzzah, my husband has several kinds of c-clamps.

Husbands are heroes! That is gonna work just fine. Good going husband. Maybe he doesn't have to take the garbage out tonight? C-clamps save the day.

Bridge fixed.
Paint job (it's a terrible instrument -- I have not desecrated a nice one I promise!)
New tuners installed.
Kid is happy!
