Hi everyone, this is my first post here.
I just received a baritone uke i made with a luthier.
I'm concerned about the soundboard thickness.
This is about 5 mm. Isnt it too thick?!
The sound coming from the uke is not that bad, but i feel it lacks of sustain and i think the tone lacks of brithness
Is this something i should care about and try to fix?
Thanks!

Half a centimeter? That sounds really thick.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Is that a typo that it's 5.0mm and not 0.5mm thick?

5.0mm is like the thickness of a pencil and while I'm not a luthier, that seems overly thick for a soundboard on any scale...

Please confirm if a typo or not.

Also, have you raised your concerns with your luthier?

Did you have lots of communications before and during the build process where you discussed all your requests for the instrument, and/or specified them on your order via email or a web form?
