I could have sworn I saw a sticky thread somewhere that listed recommended uke books. Can someone give me a link to it? I know there's probably a few. 😁

Okay, so maybe there isn't a thread for book recommendations. So I'd like some instructional book recommendations. Especially anything having to do with chord melodies, finger styling, classical guitar style ukulele or playing with a low g uke.

Thanks.

Thanks. That was probably the thread I was thinking of.

Ukulele Aerobics is for re-entrant tuning, only somewhat suitable for low-g. Aaron Keim's Fingerstyle book is a good recommendation, and covers both high-G and low-G (and has support videos).

I like the Pekelo series. But Book 1 is hard to find.

I have the Uke Aerobics. It is not a beginner book and neither is Aaron Keim's Fingerstyle book. Those books are nice supplements once you have a good grounding in the uke.

I am getting more out of James Hill's The Ukulele Way than any other learning resource I have used in the almost 2 years I have been playing uke.
You can order the books ($15 a piece) or do the course online.

It has been the most straightforward and fluid learning tool I have used. Well worth the $7 usd a month I pay to have access.

I totally missed the low G part. Thanks for pointing that out.

Actually, can someone confirm that Daniel Ho's Discovering and Exploring the Ukulele are for low-G? The store description doesn't say, and I may recall this incorrectly. (Considering to buy them. All my books are for high-G and I'd like something for low-G.)

Yes, it is low g, Mivo.
Read the first review from this Amazon USA link.

From that review:
"First let me mention that this book assumes that you are playing an 'uke with a low G string"

Mivo, have you heard about the Pekelo books? They are low g too.

Yes, I read about them and that they are very good, but hard to get (doubly so when you're in Europe), and no digital editions. Do you know if the author is considering a new print run? Or a PDF/ebook version?

Thanks for the confirmation! I think I'll get these two.
