I'm absolutely fascinated by the artistry of beautiful inlay. In the uke world, we have people like Chuck Moore (Moore Bettah), Dave Sigman (Little River), Beau Hannam, etc. who do some pretty spectacular work. I've often wondered how it is actually done.

Here is a great video interview and demonstration by arguably the finest inlay artist in the world, Harvey Leach. How good is he? Well, Martin commissioned him to do inlay 1.5 millionth guitar with a Davinci theme (http://www.harveyleachinlays.com/davinci-martin.html).

Here's a link to the video. It's a bit over 20 minutes, so fill your coffee cup and enjoy.

I was blown away by the tediousness of what is required. Hope you enjoy.

Harvey is great! I'm surprised they don't give more credit to Bob Hergert who did all that amazing scrimshaw work. Valued at over a million dollars did he say? Wow, I'd think only original art would deserve that kind of valuing.
