Suitable action of banjo ukulele

It really can depend on which style you're playing.

For example, clawhammer, which might be a popular choice on a banjo, can involve plucking the strings at a slightly "non-optimal" angle, especially if you're going for the more percussive type of accompaniment. This may require a slightly higher string clearance to prevent buzzing, especially if you're using a lower-tension set of strings.

If you're using your banjo as a "ukulele-replacement" with a different tone, then setting it up similarly to your usual instrument would make sense.

FWIW, my banjolele has an action of slightly less than 2mm at the 12th fret and doesn't buzz when I clawhammer, but that maybe down to my style or the "generic" strings as much as anything else.

Good luck :music:
