Anyone with plastic for sale?

flukes or other?

you might want to try out fleamarketmusic.com and check out the flukes or the flea ukes. they're great!

another option is the old TV Pal ukes or MacFerri vintage ukes. they're made entirely of plastic and sound quite nice too. they pop up on ebay quite a bit and you may be able to get a great deal there.

best,
Shawn

Hi! JT's got a Fleas already. He's looking for a TV Pal or something like that.

they have 3 plastic ukes (all made by the company called emenee)
also a couple plastic banjo ones made by Maestro Golden

You can get a fine plastic uke on Ebay for 50 bucks or less. You just have to be vigilant. Always try to find out if the action is good. You can't sand down a plastic uke's saddle or nut because they're part of the molded plastic body and neck. My latest is an amazing looking "Happy Tune" that I won on shopgoodwill.com. $24! The action is excellent, but that was just luck. I bought it because it's the only "Happy Tune" uke I've ever seen.

It's got a lovely copper color.

Isn't Ebay your best shot? The link above says $150.... need I remind anyone of the baritone Islander for sale here in Tokyo for 67000 yen (what, $650?). STOP! THE MADNESS!
But even on Ebay, there will be quite a bit of rivalry, probably best to shoot for the less famous ones to get real bargains, no? Doing some preparatory research will help you narrow down the field a bit, try to get a good idea of the going prices for several models.

Caveat: I have never used Ebay (sorry MGM) or bought a plastic uke. My virgin road was covered with a plywood Skylark from Shanghai.

edit: Ah, Alan's posts are starting to make sense ;) ....

So was it one of you who sniped that nice uke from me on shopgoodwill.com a few weeks ago?

sigh
