I need to raise the saddle a little on this old japanese Luna soprano. I don't know the material, but it smells like celluloid when I scratch the surface. it's about 1mm thick. Any ideas how to remove it?

I would try to get it out by taking a small sharp pointed object such as an awl and push it into the end of the saddle and try to lift it up. If it comes up, you're good to go. If not, ........???

Yes I'll try that. Perhaps it's possible to heat the awl and melt it if it's too tight.

You might be able to get a better bite on it if you heat the tip of the awl and try to press it into the end of the saddle and then lift gently but firmly. Hopefully, it will come up out of the slot. I hope the saddle isn't glued in.
