Mr. Timms' Website down?

you can verify via

http://www.isup.me

and put in the url and it checks for you from a different location than your own computer and lets you know if the site can be accessed from that other location or not.

to answer your question though, it looks down for me too as 'the domain name cannot be resolved' is the error message I am getting...as of the timestamp that I am posting this message

I cant get it either...May be it's gone forever :( ...I'll have to wait until my computer wise son gets back from his week end gigging and see if he can sort it.

after some research I have found that it seems like a DNS problem, as per http://www.lycosstatus.com/ (lycos owns tripod):

"Current Status
Short outage yesterday affecting all sites. Some ISPs have not yet updated DNS from our outage page, but the system is up and working for most customers at this time."

If there are changes to DNS, it takes time (sometimes up to 72 hrs) for the changes to propagate out to the global internet and major ISPs, and in addition to that MANY DNS services have been under attack and flooded with DDOS (distributed denial of service) exploits in the past week or so, and this may be a direct aftershock OR the intended primary effect of the exploit's actions

to keep up to date on such matters, one can check and/or search the headlines here:

https://krebsonsecurity.com/

What the heck is DNS or DDOS?

see here:

Hope this helps.

Well I guess the thread has run it's course. Just for anyone who is interested there's a Jet 10 - 20 sander for sale in Yorkshire UK, £525 with stand, on the UKWorkshop forum for sale section. It might not be there for very long.
Afraid I'm too old fashioned for those powerful electwickerty thingies. I'm still using a crystal set.
