I found this on another thread https://www.mediafire.com/?0p02c7ttpqe2g But It is just chords with the words - does anyone know a good place for uke tabs for your typical christmas songs? Looking to learn a few when I go back home and visit my little nieces and nephews for a sing along? Doesn't have to be complex at all - I prefer the simple songs where you play the melody to easy sing along

thanks in advance!

using google I found quite a few - to bad none of them have the words - so I guess I will have to write them in - oh the horror!

I think, in this situation, you have to consider why tabs are used. Tabs are used to notate melody first; sometimes melody and harmonic reinforcement. I'm about to post on this in a new topic...but the reason people wouldn't put words along with the tab is that the ukulele is meant to be the melodic accompaniment (and perhaps harmonic accompaniment, depending on the tab) versus the voice. It also doesn't help that reentrant ukulele tuning bottoms out at Middle C, where plenty of songs in a singing range go below that note if meant to be sung in a comfortable range (keeping the highest notes in mind).

Most vocal-as-melody music would either show lyrics only with chord names, or provide a lead sheet of notes for the voice, along with the chords. The Jumpin' Jim's Holiday books would be a good example of this.

I believe that there are tabs for a few Christmas songs on traditionalmusic.co.uk for free.
I think I found Holy Nigth there last year. Or perhaps it was somewhere else. Give it a try.

Edit: oh, you need the words as well. Don't think they have that.

Last week my kids and I started playing from Javier Marco's Christmas Carols book. Bought it on Amazon. Music notation and tabs. Might have been about $12. Ukulele Hunt has a fun and easy version of Little Drummer Boy.

I just bookmarked a bunch today . . . I'll see if they have words.

For some reason, Brittni's link didn't work for me, but I did find it. In case anyone needs a different link that the one already posted, this might work:

And, thanks, Brittni! Looks like it will be fun to play.

As a first-year uke student (though a pretty dedicated one!), when I hear that songs / tabs are available from John Kings and Brittni Paivas and Kalei Gamiaos and etc, my first thought is along the lines of "yeah, right...maybe in a couple of years" :)

PS - my daughter (9 years old, uke player of 5 months) is one of your biggest fans

Thanks so much for correcting the link!! :D When I copied it from my website it came out extremely long so I tried to shorten it but I guess it didn't work, lol.

Review by Dad (review by son and daughter below): Thanks for sharing this arrangement. It's very accessible for an advancing beginner like me (about 10 months dedicated practice). Also, it's a fun way to practice forming barre chords and for learning how to add ornamentation notes!

Review by son and daughter (11 and 9 years): We like this Christmas song. It was kind of hard but then our dad scribbled out some notes on the tab that we could leave out and then it was easier. We like your hand written tabs, its cool. Thank you!!!
