I'm looking for a solid koa tenor but I can't afford Kamaka, Kanile'a, Koaloha, etc. Big Island Ukulele Co.'s traditional series tenor seems reasonably priced, but are they good ukes? I don't have the luxury to 'try before I buy' so I'm looking for some advice.

Check with MGM. He can answer your questions and provide you recommendations. He has a sizeable inventory in various price ranges. OUtstanding customer service and the members here will vouch for him.

I have the concert size Big Island Ukulele Co. Honu. I adore her. I e-mailed MGM several times while I was searching for a nicely priced solid Uke. I was having trouble deciding between the Pono and the Honu. He suggested the Honu. It is put together very well, no glue showing, finish is flawless as far as I can tell. She has a nice full tone and great sustain. I don't think you would be disappointed
