Need a to ask you guys a question...
Does anyone know if blackwood is any good for ukulele construction?? Im talking soild wood for back, sides and even neck!!!

Let me know what you guys think.

esp u Dom :p
haha

Much appreciated

There's Australian and African Blackwood. Both woods are used in the construction of musical instruments, but you're probably talking about Australian Blackwood in the case of ukuleles. They say it's very similar to Koa. They even use it as a top wood.

I've never heard one, though.

I have read some very favorable comments about Australian blackwood. Rance White of Lazy River Guitars in North Carolina uses it on many of his weissenborn-style guitars. I am told the sound is quite close to koa. I test drove a soprano Lehua ukulele made of solid blackwood not long ago. It needed new strings, but the sound was still pretty nice.

Thank you durbin and sesso!!

And welcome back sesso!, Havent heard from you in so long@
