I changed the strings on my Hannam tenor ukulele today, using the new Southcoast ML-WB Linear (Low-G) with Wound Basses. This is version 1.6, with a new 3rd, and new, low-density trebles. They feel better under my fingers, sound good, but there was hitch unrelated to the strings:

One of the tuning machines froze.

Stopped turning.

This is a high-end machine, no problems before, smooth as lube on glass, and I was surprised.

I have no engineering skills, but I have a gunsmith's screwdriver ...

So I took it apart, the machine, scrubbed it with with a toothbrush and Break Free, put it back together, and whatever invisible piece of grit was there went away. Works fine now.

One enjoys the small victories. Sometimes they are what we have.

WTG Steve. I love being able to fix things like this too. Thanks for sharing it, I'm sure this won't be the only one that stops working!

Thata boy Steve! I've taken to snapping photos with my phone so I don't forget how to put things back together.
