Baritone wound E. is it possible?

I was wondering if it was possible to buy a wound string that will tune to pitch on the E string of a DGBE set?

In the normal octave? Doubtful. I won't say "impossible" as someone will probably provide the counter example. Now, if you were willing for the E to be an octave lower, then the Lil'u sets will give you a wound first string:

The D'Addario wound string with the lowest unit weight I can find will still give you around 25lbs of tension tuned to E on a baritone. So I'm going to agree with Jim and say highly unlikely.

I also would not try it.

The D'Addario String Tension Pro calculator gives me 17.86 lbs of tension with a silver-plated copper wound classical string (NYLW020) tuned to E4, which may exceed the structural tolerance of the instrument in question and cause damage.

Hmm..after watching a few of your YT vids, might you be wanting to tune GDAE in fifths on a baritone uke (like an octave mandolin)?

If so, you are likely going to be using 3 wound and one not-wound (either nylon or fluoro).

I've tried to come up with strings for this and even with an 0.048" or 0.052" extra-hard tension classical guitar string for the G2, could never get it to intonate better than 12 cents sharp.

I think you'd have to compensate that string about 10mm, or maybe use an instrument with a fanned-fret setup whereby you've got about 22" scale for the G2 string and 19" scale for the E4 string in order to get good intonation, unless you want a REALLY thick wound string with about 19 lbs of tension...but I am certainly no expert...and open to ideas

DAddarlo 0.019 and at around 16.5lb it felt very wrong and past it's limit of playability!
Just thought I would ask.....
Booli, I have a couple of ukuleles in standard tuning but yes you are right I also play in 5ths.
GDAE is pretty easy on most baritone 20" scales... or at least on mine it works very well. 0.50 0.35 0.24 all wound and 0.28p.
