On my Opio Tenor, if I hold the ukulele against me at one point, and then hold the rest of the ukulele off my body, the sound from the instrument is much greater. While this occurs with a couple of my ukuleles--by far the Opio seems to resonate throughout the body.
On my other ukulele, the main resonator seems to be the sound board/front.
So I am inclined to think this resonating is a result of the way KoAlohas are built--and I don't know enough about ukulele construction to know why. I would like to try a KoAlana (laminate) to see if it shares those traits--but I don't know where I could try one locally.
