Yes, Andrew will be auctioning it. It is my favorite MBU I've ever seen. I always get a kick out of watching the auctions. Will be interesting to see how it does. I think it will go for really big bucks.

I usually don't post my work here because most people know where to see it but this thread has already started and Len has run into problem posting photos. The uke is built from black & white ebony with an Adirondack spruce top. the inlays are scrimshawed faux ivory.

Makes me want to record my original jazz song "Night Rose" on such an instrument!!! Just been so lazy, but a uke like that has a real kick!

"You are the night rose in my garden of dreams... that only blossoms when the moonlight gleams..."

Hahaha. That's sad and funny.

Edit to add: I first replied from the first page and hadn't seen the pictures. Chuck that headstock is a masterful and stunning rendition of th human form. Thank you again for making such great art for us all to see and hear. Seriously, thank you.

Absolutely incredible!!! The scrimshaw work is breathtakingly beautiful. I am in love with the headstock....from strictly an artistic point of view;).

I saw this ukulele two weeks ago when I visited Chuck at his home. It is nicer in person. The inlay would not meet my wife's approval or my wife so I didn't ask about buying it.

One word - SEXY

But seriously, love that look, it is so tasteful, both in an artistic way, as well as inspiring an insane craving for vanilla fudge and/or white chocolate...synaesthesia in full effect here - LOL.

Chuck, you are a mater artisan whose work is sure to inspire music as beautiful as this instrument is for one to behold.

Thank you for sharing with us. :)

The ukulele is up for auction at theukulelesite.com. Any guesses for how much this goes for?

In addition to the stunning appearance, it sounds amazing.

Past auctions have hit $10K, right? So I could see this one going for over $10K, and as much as $15K.
But, that's just a wild guess.

Meanwhile, back to go listen to the sound samples again. Beautiful!

This is my favorite MBU I've seen. By a long shot. It's also very, very different than the other highly inlayed ones with its "quietly" stunning, grayscale inlay. The woods are the same as Andrew's MBU which we played at UGH, which had exceptional tone. Put those things together and I think it could go for $15K or more. Alas, way, way out of my price range but somebody will have a very, very special MBU!

I think the most I've recalled was around $13K.

Wow, just listened to the recordings of Corey and Kalei playing. World class players on a world class uke = MAGIC!

Yeah, I can see your wife's point. I think the scrimshaw is lovely and the nude is tasteful. But there's no way I personally would buy a uke with a naked lady on the headstock. A naked dude, maybe.... :D

+1. Beautifully done, but I personally wouldn't want a naked lady on the headstock.

But this is still one of the most beautiful ukuleles I've seen and it sounds fantastic, from the samples on HMS.

If I had the money for it, (I don't), maybe I'd buy it and have the lovely lady wear a pink hat that covers her? LOL.

Someone somewhere will be getting a one-of-a-kind work of art, though.

it's so sweet it brings tears to my eyes

I'm having to hold myself back from selling everything I own to bid on this!!!

$15k is definitely out of my price range but maybe I'll bid just to say I made an effort to purchase it. In the meantime, I'm buying some lottery tickets and crossing my fingers. Whoever wins the auction will get an amazing instrument.

I was going to sell my van (2003 Dodge) but it is only going to fetch $750 to $900 Canadian beaver bucks.
Now what am I bid for these rawhide snow shoes....only used in the winters.

Wow - that thing is gorgeous. A true piece of art.

It is nice sounding, but I prefer the tone of Chuck's koa ukes (not that I own one, but I wish I did!). Ad/ebony combo sounds a bit too guitar-like to me. I am NOT criticizing here - I am comparing Chuck's ukes with Chuck's ukes. And to be fair, I have only heard them in video clips (albeit over good speakers). And new Ad tops are notoriously tight (but soon open up - as my ad topped Collings guitar can attest), so that might be playing into the equation here.

In any case, that is truly one of the most beautiful looking ukes I have ever seen. That wood back is unreal.

I expected to go for a LOT more. Was my favorite MBU I've seen by a lot. So tastefully executed.

Congrats to the lucky winner!!!

Very true. Way out of my price league, but I believe it was a very good buy based on the few other ukes I've at this price point. And unlike those, this will hold its value really well.
