song suggestions

Can anyone help with songs that could be played with just C, Am and F.

It's for my class of 9 and 10 year-olds and those are the only chords they know so far.

I'm really looking for folk or traditional songs rather than pop, as the school is a Steiner School and we don't tend to introduce anything too modern before the age of 12 or 13.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Teach'em G7 and they'll be able to play half the old time rock and roll hits ever written.

I am teaching my friend now. By my experience on teaching him, G7 is not difficult to play for beginners. If you teach them, G7, you can have far more chance to get nice songs on the key of C.

BazMaz has lots of easy trad songs in the nursery rhyme section of Gotaukulele: http://www.gotaukulele.com/2011/02/ukulele-nursery-rhymes-chords-for.html. Don't be put off by the title of the section / don't tell the kids - there's lots there that I think they will enjoy, e.g Michael Finnigan which you can play with just F and C (not C and G as in the link).

ETA: sorry, these are all more modern songs, which I did not see until after re-reading the OP, for older songs, you might try looking at Doctor Uke's song list, which has music sheets as well as song demos performed by Doctor Uke himself:

And yes, I know things would be easier with G or G7, but I like to take things slowly.
