I have a lower-end soprano ukulele (Mitchell MU40) with geared tuners.
Two of the tuners are really rough and I would like to replace them.
I'm wondering if this is a straightforward project or not? I was looking at Grover tuners from StewMac (and open to suggestions that won't break the bank).
Sadly, I contacted Mitchell to see if I could get new tuners and they told me to return the instrument for an exchange. I didn't want to do that since I already did some set-up work on it, and added new strings. It plays quite well and I really don't want to give it up. I'd rather add better tuners.
Thanks!
