Visited a local music shop today (non big box), the first since since my recent uke affliction started. Haven't been there for a year or so, but lotsa ukes! Way more than I remember.. 2 tall circular, multi level uke racks, probably 20-30 in all. Many less guitars than last time there, and a newer performance room, where Uke Nights and clinics are held. Mostly low-mid uke models: Makala, Kala, 2 entry level Martins, a couple of Gretsches, and a few Dolphins. 1/2 tenor, with the rest between soprano and bariitone. Not a concert to be seen, which was what I had hoped to check out. Martin was top price, followed, surprisingly by Gretsch. The Gretsch was better to my ears. Fun playing a bunch of ukes. My newb conclusion was that my Kamaka soprano has great bark and tone, although most of these newer ukes, even the sopranos, played easier, and seemed roomier, maybe it was my imagination?

They sold out. See I told you concert ukes were the most popular!
