Cajon

Looks great! What wood did you use?

I bought a kit. The first one I made was out of mdf, plywood and 1/8 birch for the sound board. It was real heavy so I gave it away because of back problems. The only way I could buy 1/8 birch was 4x8 sheets ($70+). I had to sell my house because of the back issues and had no room for the wood remenents from my shop. So I found this kit with the snare, feet, screws for $50.

It was easy to assemble. I sanded off their logo and used a wood burner and dye-na-flow, a fabric dye you can use on wood for the design. I finished it with rub on gloss polyurethane.

That is one really strange looking ukulele...

Really, nice job! Very fun paint job.
My brother has a cajon that I've played around with some. Those things are pretty great.. I've seen some pro players do some things with them that are just amazing. There are so many sounds you can get out of one.
