This is one I've wanted to try for a while. A couple of years ago, I picked up a book that had sheet music of the guitar parts for 20 Steely Dan songs, including tabs of the solos. I spent three nights practicing the solo, to get to the point where I got about half of it right.

I practiced this for a couple of nights on an unplugged concert, with a low G. I decided to do the video on a tenor Fluke instead, but it worked fine on the concert. Out of curiosity, I tried it on a soprano after reading your post. The rest of the song sounds good, but the solo really needs a low G. There's a couple of E notes that I can't play with a low G, but I can skip those notes and overall it still sounds right. With re-entrant tuning and the lowest note being a C, there's chunks of the solo where I'm just bouncing around between octaves.
