I picked up a Mele tenor while in Maui last week and I am on my 2nd set of strings. Neither set has felt right to me and I could use some advice on getting the right strings. I didn't like the stock set so I put on some Aquila nylgut low G's. I guess I am not used to the metal G string as it just doesn't feel or sound right to me. For comparison I have a Flea soprano with high G Aquila nylgut's and a KoAloha tenor strung with the low G fluorocarbon strings they came with. I really like the feel of both of these.
Should I just stick with the low G Wound Aquila's? Is this something that most would get used to and prefer?
Any other suggestions on strings that would be comparable to my other ukes? From what I can find the KoAloha strings are Worth fluorocarbon. I found these sold at The Ukulele site but the packaging shows a 63 inch string and I have no idea what that means.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am still pretty new at this and really don't know very much yet. Thanks!
