Crack attack

One of my favourite sounding Martins is riddled with repaired cracks and other battle marks - if the price is reflected by its appearance and it sounds great, there is no stopping me.

If the ever an almost terminally damaged (holes, cracks, the lot) vintage k soprano would be available to buy I would be keen.

Cracks are no big deal, missing bits are. Although I once had a Martin that missed its entire back (replaced with a piece of plywood by the previous owner), and it still was very playable...

My keeper/players are all WWII vintage Martins all are Mahogany Style 0, 1, 2, 3 and a Concert. only the 2 and 3 are crack free. I glued the crack shut if there was some movement on either side of the crack, if not much I leave it alone. I cleat the side cracks and put a cleat on a back crack that was half the length of the body. This also had loose braces.
The sound and feel are what I like about these old Martins. Fix them up and learn French Polishing.
PS I have yet to run across a 1K of that vintage.
