My islander uke has a pretty sharp edge so when I'm holding it, it leaves an uncomfortable impression on the underside of my forearm. At first it's not bad, but it gets worse the longer I practice and it's been feeling a bit sore.

Is there something I can attach to the edge or do to make it more comfortable to hold while strumming? I've been using a small towel, but it doesn't stay. Will sanding damage a laminated uke? Thanks!

I'd rather fit a strap than sand the body, not that a modicum of sanding is likely to cause a problem other than showing up because the finish has been removed ... you could claim that you've played it so much the wood has worn away ;)

Do an ebay search for ukulele arm rest. Sort by price lowest first.

You may also just be holding on to it too tightly, only needs enough pressure to stop it from moving around. :)

(But if you must, I'd suggest an arm band to spread the pressure point, you will be able to add or remove material under neath it for thickness.)

:agree: Also avoid slippery synthetic fabrics when playing.
