for those that are having troubles with picking, here is a few patterns that are mostly used:

Picking Patterns

Here are some picking patterns (arpeggios) that you can use to add more to songs.

Pick the strings in the order shown while holding a chord (A string = 1, E string = 2, C string = 3, and G string = 4).

* 4 2 3 1 (repeat as needed)
* 1 2 3 1 2 4 (repeat as needed) Used in: Herb Ohta Jr.’s version of Europa and Jake Shimabukuro’s version of While my Guitar Gently Weeps
* 3 2 4 1 4 2 (repeat as needed)

i was browsing www.liveukulele.com, and i saw it and realized that i never found out how to pick very well.

just thought id share the love ^_^

This is the picking pattern and tab that Jake uses at the end Weeps after the crazy fast strumming. The accent is on the double notes on the 3rd C string that occur throughout the pattern.

I recommend just playing it slowly over and over until you can play it cleanly then pick up the pace. Start to slow the tempo back down again if you notice that you are no longer playing it cleanly.

thanks dom.

i actually brought my uke to work, not supposed to do that but im Fred haha, and i practiced the 1 2 3 1 2 4 picking slowly then picked it up the more i did it.

you can actually feel the pattern when you have it slowly and you start to pick up the pace higher.
