Wow, these are great. Just totally beautiful.

Just curious... anyone know of anyone who has done something like this before? I'd be really interested to know what kind of paint one would use, how to prepare the surface, and whether they need some kind of finishing varnish/sealant.

I really like this demon one:

Email her and ask?

As much as I like the artwork, it seems to me that there's a downside. If I understand it correctly, these beautiful old ukes are now just display items, and will no longer be played....

Not true.

Some people have asked me if my ukes are players as well as fine art objects. Yes! They have all been lovingly restored and set up by a luthier. That is the beauty of my "Dreamgirls and Ukes" show at Thinkspace Gallery.

Wowww. That is amazing. I wonder what kind of a difference in sound there is.

These are gorgeous! Wish I had artistic skill so that I could do something similar.

My sis is a professional artist. She is going to paint my bands name on my uke. She uses "One Shot" paint. She uses it to paint logo's on gym room floors. They also use it to pinstripe cars.

I inquired about buying this exact one! It's my favorite, too. Two mortgage payments = 1 Demon.

She wrote back to me!

Thanks! I truly appreciate your feedback.
I checked out your Youtube...cool!

Keep enjoying the uke!

Hand-Painted Ukuleles by artist Amy Crehore

I just stumbled across these photos of amazing hand-painted ukes and wanted to share them with the rest of you. An artist named Amy Crehore had a gallery show called "Dreamgirls and Ukes" back in February of 2009 in Los Angeles, for which she hand-painted scenes of island girls and monkeys and the like onto professionally-restored, vintage ukeleles and banjo-ukes.

Check out the links below to see these beautiful creations, each valued at several thousand dollars! (A warning to those who blush easily: Some of the paintings have boobies in them).
