I have the four string version of this (model name is UL4) and really love the size and how different it sounds from a regular baritone. So chimey. To me, it's the perfect scale length and perfect body shape. Small enough to sit comfortably with it, but also big enough for great resonance and sustain. The 8 string version will sound even fuller with the doubled strings and octave pairs, like an orchestra. For me, it would be a bit too much, I don't want to hassle with so many strings to tune and with the extra string tension. But I think it is another great option from Pono for people who are looking to expand their sound. I also love Pono's sunburst, one of the prettiest in the whole industry.
