b/w/b purfling and rosette

I know the rosette is the design around the sound hole & I think the purfling is around the front side of the body but what does b/w/b mean? Thanks

b/w/b = black/white/black, referring to the three concentric rings of the rossette or the different colored layers of the purfling....

As I understand it, "b/w/b" just means "black/white/black."

It looks like the "w" is abalone.
