Hi folks, could someone tell me what a roll up is? I watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyDOEDQKgR4
and at 2.37 the player says he is doing a roll up. I keep watching and watching it all ove again, but I still don't get what he is doing. Could anyone explain? Thanks so much!

Hi, and welcome to UU.

He is talking about a roll, not roll up.

He is showing the strumming pattern as down, (down), up, up, down, up
Substitute the down in parenthasis with down, (roll), up,up,down,up

A roll is fanning down with your fingers like a Flamenco guitarist. Aldrene is doing some rolls while is demonstrating the chord shapes at the beginning of the video.

I hope this helps.

Sounds nice.

It looks like you're playing the "roll" by leading off with your pinkie? You may also try doing it by leading off with your pointer finger. I find that doing it that way makes the "roll" sound a bit more obvious.

Cool, I will try rolling by leading off with my pointer finger.
