We this bought as my late Christmas present.
We looked at some wonderful used baritones on the board but decided we wanted an all ply model to leave out without any worry. Also, if we did like it and upgrade to a better model, we can use this for travel or a loaner.
I only had a few minutes with this before leaving for work. So my brief impressions are;
Sounds amazing, even when playing up the neck.
I can only imagine how rich and wonderful a really up scale bari is.
I love the wide fret spacing. I can finally stack three fingers.
The Aquilla strings seem outstanding. They went into tune quickly and didn't need much adjustment. Tension and feel were very good.
This string set had two wound low strings and is a Super Nygut.
Fit and finish are typical Kala, good for the money. But nothing fancy.
This one is satin finished mahogany with a creamy white binding.
I find it very attractive.
This instrument has a truss rod, which I've read of, but is new to me.
This is the forth Kala in our house, btw.
One Tenor guitar, one TEM, one cedar topped concert, and this baritone. We have been very happy with all of them.
